GPRS無線通訊體系具有如下特色：
1、牢靠性高：
      與SMS短信息方法比較，GPRS DTU選用面向銜接的TCP協(xié)議通訊，避免了數(shù)據(jù)包丟掉的景象，確保數(shù)據(jù)牢靠傳輸�；�地能夠與多個監(jiān)測點一起進行數(shù)據(jù)傳輸，互不攪擾。GPRS網(wǎng)絡(luò)自身具有完善的頻分復用機制，并具有極強的抗攪擾功用，徹底避免了傳統(tǒng)數(shù)傳電臺的多機頻段“磕碰”景象。
2、實時性強：
       GPRS具有實時在線的特性，數(shù)據(jù)傳輸時延小，并支撐多點一起傳輸，因此GPRS監(jiān)測數(shù)據(jù)基地能夠多個監(jiān)測點之間迅速，實時地進行雙向通訊，極好地滿意體系對數(shù)據(jù)搜集和傳輸實時性的請求。現(xiàn)在GPRS實踐數(shù)據(jù)傳輸速率在30Kbps左右，徹底能滿意體系數(shù)據(jù)傳輸速率（≥10Kbps）的需要。
3、監(jiān)控規(guī)模廣：
      GPRS網(wǎng)絡(luò)現(xiàn)已完結(jié)全國規(guī)模內(nèi)掩蓋，而且擴容無限制，接入地址無限制，能滿意山區(qū)、城鎮(zhèn)和跨地區(qū)的接入需要。關(guān)于散布在全市/全省規(guī)模內(nèi)，或全國規(guī)模的PLC操控體系，選用GPRS網(wǎng)絡(luò)是其理想的挑選。
4、體系建造本錢低：
      因為選用GPRS公網(wǎng)渠道，無需建造網(wǎng)絡(luò)，只需裝置設(shè)備就即可，建造本錢低；也免去了網(wǎng)絡(luò)保護費用。
